The Saturday before Easter is also called Sabado Santo and was a pretty quiet day for festivities, though many businesses that had been closed for two days, reopened. The main highlight of the day, in terms of Pascua, was a candle light procession, as dusk was falling. Beautiful young girls, dressed as angels and carrying baskets of rose petals, followed the priests out of the church. The image of Mary ( which you saw in an earlier slide all dressed in blue) was now completely dressed in black and was carried by long files of women. Her train was very long and was supported by another group of women in the procession. Parishioners, carrying candles, followed as the procession made its way around the square. Music was softly sung and it was a very prayerful moment.
